Stafford Town Pumas 0 Stafford Rangers  2

Just 24 hours later, Rangers travelled to Weston Road to face title rivals Stafford Town Pumas.

This was a very good game - with the two sides closely matched - and Rangers were a little fortunate to go into the lead - when a long range Kyle Rennie effort bounced over the Pumas goal keeper.

Rangers then created chance after chance - with the pace of their strikers - however couldn't capitalise on their lead up play.

The game was settled in the second half , with a clever finish from George Mitchell - who pounced on a Kyle Rennie flick on, and tucked the ball to the side of the advancing keeper.

The referee commented at the end of the game that it was the best game he had refereed this season in terms of quality - which is a compliment to both sides.

Rangers took the lead in the first few minutes , with a goal from Jamie Smith - but then struggled to get in to their stride against a battling Brereton. The game turned into a scrappy affair - with Brereton equalising against the run of play - via an own goal.

That seemed to snap Rangers awake - and two goals were added before half time by Charlie Johnson and Joel Davies.

The second half was one way traffic - with chance after chance spurned by Rangers - but credit must be given to the Brereton goalkeeper who was excellent.

A fourth and final goal was deservedly added by Kyle Rennie in the closing minutes.

Rangers re-commenced their League programme after the Mid Season break with a trip to Tower FC in Cannock.

The weather conditions deteriorated even further in the second half, with torrential rain and strong winds - but credit to both teams who kept battling away. A third Rangers goal was added when George Mitchell, in his first game back since suffering a broken ankle in November, finished off another good passing move with a well hit shot.

With a little under 5 minutes remaining, the referee chose to end the game early - as the playing (and spectating) conditions were truly awful.

A good win to re start the season with.

Stafford Rangers Juniors 2 Stafford Eagles 2

Both teams had perfect records going into the top of the table clash - Rangers had played 4 and won 4, Eagles had played 5 and won 5 - and the teams were well matched.

Rangers took the lead just before half time, with a great individual run and finish from Ethan Elderkin.

Rangers don't know when they are beaten though - and worked tirelessly throughout the second half - gaining a deserved equaliser with 10 mins to go through Joel Davies.

There was a lot of good football played by both sides - and the game whilst very competitive, was played in superb spirit by both sides - in what was an excellent advert for the Mid Staffs Junior League.

Cannock Town 0  Stafford Rangers Juniors 2

Rangers travelled to Cardinal Griffin school play Cannock Town on Sunday.Overall the game was a scrappy affair with Cannock repelling everything Rangers could throw at them, due to a fine goalkeeping performance from the Cannock goalie.

With the game goalless at half time, Rangers changed formation - planning to use the wings more often to create space . Again the Cannock defence dealt very well with the relentless Rangers attacks. The deadlock was finally broken with 15 mins remaining - after a short corner routine that had been practised the day before at training - led to a shot from George Mitchell - that was again parried by the goalkeeper , fell to defender Finley Field, to gleefully smash the ball into the Cannock goal.

Rangers kept piling on the pressure and a second was added by Captain, Cameron Bevans-Love, with a few minutes to go.
