Stafford Rangers Juniors welcomed 4th placed Rugeley Rangers to St Johns Stadium, both teams observed
a minute silence in respect to all our fallon soldiers on this Rememberence Sunday.
Stafford started the the stronger and where soon causing Rugeley defenders problems and White and an early chane
but keeper Keenan was soon on him to soomther his shot. Rangers where now starting to spill chances and Taylor pulled
a shot wide and Hornby fired over when he sould have done better.
Finally the breakthrough came when George White was first to reacte to the lose ball in the area and scored from close
range, manger Turner made 3 changes with Norman, Turner, Boardman replacing Stevens, Hornby and Hallchurch and it
soon paid off when Turner's corner was turned home by Kieran Norman to make it 2-0. Rugeley found a way back into the
game when Rangers failed to control the ball in the middle and they broke away leaving Ben Elcock to reduce the areas.
Half Time 2-1
Some hard words where spoken at half time as Stafford seem to be just goint through to motions and they re-introduced the
reverse of the earlier substutes. Rangers came out firing now and good work by Hallchurch and Hornby sent Taylor clean though
only to see his shot clip the crossbar. Hornby again fired wide and Black shot wide.
As the came seem to be closing out Rangers hit a third when Ryan Taylor's shot found away under Keenans body.

Stafford Rangers continued on the travels around the West Midlands with a trip to Walsall where they would face
2nd Place Shelfield United.
Rangers travelled with a smaller squad this week which had been pencilled in on the Calendar as a championship 6 pointer,
and Rangers got a dream start with there first attack resulting in a corner, Turner delivered in the cross which JAMES BLACK
controlled and fired into the roof of the net from 6 yards. Rangers continued to control the game with Shelfield keeper performing
heroics in goal to keep his side in the game, but he had no chance when KIERAN NORMAN volleyed in Turner's corner in added time
in the first half.
In the second half Rangers where bossing the game with wingers Steven's and Hallchurch running riot and with Taylor and Norman
playing the familiar centre midfield roll it came as no surprise when they sealed the game with a third. Blacks free-kick was flicked home
by STEVENS at the near post.
Shelfield now threw all forward but could find now way around Black and when they did Keeper Bush continued with his good form and
kept another clean sheet.
This win was Rangers 7th consecutive league win and now leaves them 6 points clear of the 3 chasing teams, but has also seen them play
teams 2nd & 3rd place twice which leaves them in a strong position now.

CHAMPIONS
Hawkins U9's 0 - 3 Stafford Rangers Juniors U9's
Stafford Rangers Juniors took and Hawkins in the top of the league Clash, Hawkins where 3 points behind Rangers, but Stafford had a game in hand. The game was a must win for Hawkins.
Rangers started the more brightly with a strong wind behind there backs and George White went close, Danny Stevens then broke the deadlock when he picked the ball up in his own half beat 2 men, then lashed an unstoppable shot from just outside the box 1-0. Ryan Taylor then went close when he was just unable to get onto Owen Turner's cross. George White then made it 2-0 following good work from Turner on the right and White scored from close range. Then game was sealed at 3-0 when Owen Turner pounced onto a loose ball inside the penalty box and scored from an acute angle.
Rangers changed there formation at half time to account for the strong wind and Tuner moved to full back with Ryan Walker-Boardman moving to left back. Hawkins threw everything at Rangers to find a way back into the game but Alexander Bush in goal was never troubled. Having weathered Hawkins Storm Rangers moved back to 4 man midfield and chances went by for White, Steven and Taylor.
Stafford Rangers Juniors U9'S 8 - 0 Stafford Soccer School U9's
Next saw the top v bottom clash and Rangers made 2 changes from the Hawkins fixture Joshua Pace replaced Ryan and centre half and Cameron Jackson came in for White up front.
Rangers where slow and sluggish to start with as players seem to be caught up in the moment which awaited them, Danny Stevens again broke the deadlock and this seem to settle Rangers who moved up a gear further goals followed from Cameron Jackson (2), Walker Boardman and Kieran Norman.
Rangers where making changes thick and fast which saw Norman replace Bush in goal and Bush move up front alongside Jackson. Rangers crowd where nearly rewarded with a rare sight when Bush's shot narrowly went wide. Further goals followed with Danny Stevens completing his hat-trick and White unleashed a rocket form just on the corner of the penalty box.
Following this mornings games Stafford Rangers Juniors where crowned PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS with still 2 games remaining, 2nd placed Hawkins trial Rangers by 9 points.

Stafford Rangers Juniors moved into pole position in the Premier League following a all round terrific performance, Rangers where in full
control and the only surprise was that it it took them 8 mins to make the break through. Rangers where awarded a free-kick on the edge of the
box, which Norman despatched into the top corner leaving the keeper grasping at thin air. Norman made it 2-0 with a mazy run in the penalty box
and a little toe-poke made it a double for him. George White made it 3-0 to gap a very hard work personal performance.
Rangers made early changes it the second half and Hallchurch, Jackson and Pace all turned in sound performances from the bench. Jackson made
it 4-0 after Turners shot came off the crossbar, and with the final kick of the game Owen Turner produced a thunderbolt into the top corner which had
net pulling at its pegs. A special mention has to go to Danny Stevens and Ryan Taylor who both turned in hard working performances

Stafford Rangers Juniors where on a mission, having suffered defeat in the cup semi-final at the hand of PSV Stone, the only word on there agenda
was REVENGE...... Stone set out in a more attacking formation than in the cup game and Rangers pressed early which saw Stevens, Norman and White
all going close. It could be heard on the terraces the words "not again" coming from the Rangers parents but there worries were put to rest when
Kieran Norman despatched a penalty following a handball. Its was not long before Rangers made it 2-0 Ryan Taylor played a defence splitting pass
which George White slid under the advancing keeper.
Early in the second half White made it 3-0 with a Rooney style volley from Turner's corner. Rangers should have extended their lead when Taylor,
Hallchurch and Jackson all went close

Stafford Rangers Juniors had a break from league action when they were invited over to play Shrewsbury Town FC. Rangers started slow and found the 3G sport surface hard to adapt too, Shrewsbury had early chances and its came as no surprise when they made the breakthrough after Rangers failed to clear a corner it was stabbed home from close range.
Their was some harsh word said at the break from manager Turner, Rangers where showing Town too much respect and were like rabbits in headlights, the words seem to work as Rangers moved up 2 gears and Jackson scored a trademark goal from within a foot after the keeper failed to hold Hallchurch's shot and it was not long before Rangers were in dream land when Alex Hallchurch made it 2-1.
With both teams playing some lovely football both teams had chances, but Rangers were again caught out from a corner which Towns man of the match scored with a bullet header. Kieran Norman had a chance to make it 3-2 but then Rangers had to thank stand-in keeper Owen Turner with a brilliant double save.
Rangers must be very proud of there performances against a very professional team

3 for Rangers with his trademark strike. Rangers where in full control but Bush was called into action when he tipped a long range

Rangers second game of the morning saw an all semi-final losers contest, and both teams seem to struggle to get a foot hold in the game,
Jackson had a couple of efforts charged down and Turner went close with a couple of long range efforts but with a strong wind behind them
Stafford failed to take advantage and went in scoreless at the break.
Half time saw White replace Jackson and Stafford where fully on top but where finding Brewood keeper having very safe hands, with time

Rangers made easy work by scoring early through Norman, Rangers where in total command and it was no surprise when Hallchurch made it 2-0. Next up for Rangers saw tricky Stafford Town, Rangers opted to change their formation with Hallchurch dropping in at full-back with Walker-Boardman,Turner, McDonnell and Norman played in midfield with White up front. Jackson and Pace started on the bench.
Rangers found the new formation difficult to come to terms with, and Town seem to be wining the midfield battle. After a 10 mins Manager Turne rdecided to move Hallchurch into midfield to play the normal 1-4-1 and where rewarded when he produced a brilliant run and through ball which saw Turner ghost in at the far post to break the deadlock. Rangers where now in total control but were unable to increase their lead before half-time.
After the break Rangers where looking a little worn down and Town being freshed legs with this being their first game. Chances went begging for White and McDonnell. Then with 9 minutes remaining McDonnell picked up the ball in his own half and ran the full distance to score at the nearpost to make it 2-0. Stafford Rangers finished their campaign with in very in-different display, they faced a fired up Hawkins side who were gunning for the upset and their leading goalscorer Gibb broke clear to score from distance. Rangers seemed slow in the midfield battle and it was no suprise when Gibb made it 0-2 with his 20th goal of the season. This seem to wake Rangers up and slowly they started to make in roads into Hawkins defence, then they got the break when McDonnell was upended in the box when about to score, he then dusted himself down and converted the penalty by sending the keeper the wrong way. Rangers were then in debt
to keeper Alexander Bush when he produced a flying full length save to save a certain goal. Rangers went straight up the other end and George White produced a bullet from about 12 yards into the top corner to send the teams in level.
After the break, the teams were balanced but then a came piece of magic from Kieran Norman when he beat 2 players to rifle a into the top corner leaving the keeper no chance. Rangers were now on top and it came as no suprise when Cael McDonnell made it 4-2 to complete a remarkable comeback.

Match Reports –25/Apr
It was a lovely morning in Penkridge with brilliant sunshine, a perfect day for football. Rangers started very well, showing great pressure early on; they were however required to defend, which they did superbly with Ryan and Euan to thwart the opposition. Rangers were on the attack and from an early corner, Danny created an opportunity for George and then Cael but neither could convert. Rangers demonstrated powerful forward play but the chances being created came to nothing. Six minutes into the first half a throw in from the right hand side found Ryan but he couldn’t get the ball under control and the chance passed. Then Danny created a chance for George whose shot went wide. Kieran was tormenting the opposition down the right, he forced a throw in. A clever quickly taken throw from Cael put Kieran through but his effort was narrowly over. Rangers were creating lots of chances and getting closer. Then with two minutes until half time Rangers won a corner; Kieran swung it in and with a flying header George steered the ball into the net.
At half time Alexander replaced Charlie in nets. Rangers picked up where they had left off, on the attack. A Danny corner was defensively cleared to the halfway line, Euan composed himself and thundered a shot which was inches wide; a superb effort. Euan was commanding in defence and his tackling was meaningful and determined. Rangers streamed forward, Kieran once again showed skill to cut inside and fashion a shot but it was narrowly wide. The Manager then decided to make a change; Owen, who had gone through a fitness test before the game was introduced for Cael. Immediately he made an impact, a superb cross from Owen found Danny, but his header went just wide. Cael was reintroduced. Owen appeared to not be suffering any effects of his knee injury and in a clever passage of play between himself and Cael saw both have efforts saved by the keeper, the ball broke to George who nipped in for his second of the game. With almost the final kick of the game, Ryan played a raking ball to Danny to send him through the middle and towards goal; he found himself one on one with the keeper, but the ball just ran away from him. A great game from Rangers; they received praise from the Manager.
In the second game the Manager decided to tinker with the formation. He switched to a 1-3-2 formation. Rangers were out of the blocks very quickly against this young side, and Kieran fired in an early warning shot of what was to come. Owen then had an opportunity to open his account for the day, but his pile driven goal bound shot only hit his team mate Cael, nearly knocking him over! Kieran continued to fizz crosses across the box but nobody could make the vital connection. Then in a fantastic passage of play, Owen received the ball on the left, he intelligently saw Kieran wide on the right and swept a pinpoint pass to him; Kieran then zipped in an unstoppable. A few minutes later Kieran returned the favour but Owens shot was narrowly wide. Then Rangers were awarded a corner; Danny received the ball and his looping effort went only inches over the crossbar. Then came another breakthrough, George collected the ball and played a sweeping ball to Kieran again on the right; he whipped in a cross to the unmarked Cael who finished beautifully with one touch. Soon after the restart Owen picked up the ball, he crashed in an effort from the edge of the box. Rangers were just too strong. Then just before half time there was what can only be described as a goalmouth frenzy; where seemingly every Rangers player had a chance to score but nobody could!
At half time Alexander was introduced for Danny and Ryan replaced Cael. The formation continued with Rangers current Goal Keeper playing as a striker. A second goalmouth frenzy saw chances for Ryan, George then Alexander; but there was no decisive touch. Rangers were great going forward but as solid as a rock at the back, with Euan managing his defensive responsibilities. Kieran was replaced by Danny once more, who played an intelligent ball through to George whose shot hit the post; Ryan was there to follow up with his first goal of the afternoon. Danny forced a corner and grabbed the ball to quickly take it; his corner was magnificently met by Alexander who ‘rose like a Salmon’ to plant the ball in the net; a truly great way to score your first goal!
Match Reports –18/Apr
A much anticipated first game this morning. The boys had a great training session the day before and were looking forward to putting their practice into a game.
Straight from the kick off Rangers attacked with a move down the right involving Danny and Kieran. As the game settled both sides were playing well and things were extremely tight, neither side giving anything away. Then came the breakthrough. George held the ball up on the edge of the area, he played Danny in who played a square ball to Cael, he confidently side footed the ball home. Both sides were showing mature play. Rangers defence in particular were in control, with Ryan and Alex communicating well and holding the opponents line. Then however through an excellent piece of individual skill the sides were level. It didn’t deter Rangers though, fast and furious tackling saw them regain the initiative. Lovely patient play resulted in Owen having a chance to extend the scoring; unfortunately his chance was just wide. Rangers still had defending to do, Ryan and Owen made some fantastic tackles. As Half time approached, Rangers scored again. A free kick just inside the halfway line was taken by Danny. The ball broke free and a clever one two between Cael and George resulted in George crashing the ball in from the edge of the box.
The Manager didn’t make any changes at halftime. Right from the restart Rangers we on the attack. Ryan was commanding at the back. Rangers were attacking with confidence now and as the looked to score again, they were required to defend once more. A superb effort for the opposition was inches wide. It was a close game. As the final whistle approached Ranger ended a lovely move with another goal. From a goal kick, Kieran picked up the ball on the right, he waited for support, he played an exquisite ball through to George who finished from a narrow angle. It was a superb game for Rangers, much deserved. The players were very please and so they should be.
The second game wasn’t as tight and in the end saw no fewer than 3 Rangers players on a hat-trick! The first opportunity saw a lovely piece of individual skill from Owen who was unlucky not to score, his change was very close. Rangers were just too strong for this young side. Danny spurned a chance as he cut in brilliantly down the right. Then Alex B was called into action, he confidently collected the oncoming ball and cleared with a huge kick. Another Rangers goal kick was flicked on by George to Owen, but he ran out of space to unleash a power drive. Rangers forced a corner. Danny took a very strong corner; George volleyed in it the net directly from a couple of yards out. Then in two minutes of fabulous play Kieran scored twice. Firstly a lovely run down the left from Danny which saw his pull the ball back Kieran crashed it beyond the keeper from the edge of the area, then in a near identical move, Joshua played in George who squared to Kieran for number two. At half time Rangers were cruising.
After the break Rangers were caught sleeping; only magnificent defending from Ryan ensured that they didn’t concede. More changes for Rangers came, first Owen who was unlucky the Kieran once again who saw his effort hit the post. Rangers were passing well but came up against a good defence. Danny forced another corner; he swung in a firm one that the Goal Keeper couldn’t collect, George nipped in to score from close range. Then as Rangers were tiring a little, Cael turned on the style. Firstly he played a one two and confidently side footed the ball home. From the restart Cael was played in by his teammate Owen and crashed the ball home from the edge of the area, a superb effort, well deserved.
Rangers were just too strong but showed defensive qualities when it was required. Well done a great day.
Match Reports –28/Mar
A much changed Rangers side started this game well and forced and early corner. Following a good passing move, Danny struck a wonderful goal bound shot; unfortunately it hit Haydn full in the face knocking him over! Haydn was unaffected, picked himself up and carried on. A confident run took Euan the length of the pitch, he squared to Danny, but his shot went high and wide. Joshua then had a chance but his effort was well saved. Rangers were turning up the pressure and forced a series of corners, however they faced some tidy defending. A shot from outside the area from Owen went wide, and then just before half time a well worked effort from Danny saw his shot hit the post.
Cael and Kieran replaced Owen and Danny at half time. Joshua darted down the left and crossed into a congested box. In a mix up, the defender stabbed the ball into his own net. Haydn was looking lively down the right giving Rangers options. Cael took a ‘Delap’ throw-in which ran across the box to Haydn, his shot went narrowly wide. Kieran picked up the ball and darted inside, his shot went inches wide. Euan was then tested, a break-away saw Rangers under pressure; he calmly stepped into to win the ball, confidently turned and make a wonderful clearance to safety. Great work between Haydn and Kieran lead to another opportunity, the ball broke to Cael who made a strong run and shot, to score his first goal of the morning. The power of his shot was impressive. It ended a hard fought game.
The second game saw another much changed side for Rangers. The game started very tightly indeed, both sides giving little away. Then an early breakthrough, a neat move between Cael and George saw the ball pulled back to Owen, he obliged and struck the ball firmly into the net. The game was very close, with Ranger having to defend 2 quick corners. Ryan and Alexander dealt with matters well. George then had two chances to extend the scoring, he didn’t trouble the keeper. Then we witnessed a truly fantastic, full stretch one handed save from Alexander. Both sides had chances up until halftime.
The Manager made no changes at halftime. A good run from Danny opened up the defence, his looping shot was not dealt with by the keeper; the ball fell to Cael, he scored his second of the morning. Ryan was showing mature link up play, protecting his goalkeeper and ensuring the ball was worked neatly to the Rangers attackers.
Then came what has been described by the manager as, team goal of the season; involving 5 players, 9 passes and a good finish. In an absolutely amazingly patient build up, the ball was clear by Rangers. George sprinted down the left to save the ball from going out; he looked up and found Danny; Danny took a touch and played a quick one-two with George. Danny ran into the box then played a square ball to Owen, who switched play to the right and found Cael. Cael played a neat one-two with Kieran, then floated in a wonderful cross. George had continued his run into the box; he jumped and with both feet off the ground headed the ball goal wards. The ball nestled in the top far corner of the net. A really great team effort!
Late on Rangers had another chance to extend the scoring, but Kieran’s rocket effort went narrowly wide. It was a great morning boys, well done.
Match Reports –21/Mar
Line up - Bush, Jennings, Matthews, Stevens, Turner, White, Deakin Subs Walker-Boardman, McDonnell, Norman
Rangers started well in the first game with some early pressure down the right from Haydn; but they also had to defend from the start of this game. A great move saw Rangers on the back foot from early on; a splendid chance to open the scoring was only averted by what can only be described as a superb and brave save from Alexander. With the striker looming, Alexander moved off his line to narrow the angle, and then make a double save to protect his goal. Euan was there to support and neatly cleared up the danger. Euan soon restored order at the back with his calm influence. Rangers soon got back into their groove, with some excellent work involving Danny, George and the impressive Haydn. Lovely work from Joshua presented Owen a great chance to score, but his shot was high and wide. There was a throw in on the left, Owen found George who then played in Danny. Danny neatly beat 3 players and tried an early shot, the keeper made a great stop but George had followed in; he finished from close range. Rangers finished the half well, with some good pressure.
At half time Cael replaced Owen. He immediately got involved in the game with two strong challenges both of which resulted in conceding free kicks. Rangers were back to their passing ways. A great move then resulted in a goal; Cael once again lead an attack down the right, he spotted George in the centre and looped a high ball, George controlled in mid air took the ball around the keeper with one touch and slotted it away. This was a milestone for this wonderful group of boys, their 100th of the season; a truly great team achievement. Danny had another chance but his effort was just wide. The Manager then made 3 quick changes; Kieran for Danny, Ryan for Joshua and Owen for Haydn. Rangers looked organised and started to once again attack as a team. Then in a blistering 90 seconds, Rangers scored 3 goals. Firstly, a chance that gave 4 players the opportunity to score resulted in Ryan smashing the ball in from close range. Then 2 minutes of brilliance, Kieran scored and individual goal and then straight from the restart Kieran ran at the defence, they backed off, so he punished them by cutting in and powerfully finishing in the far corner of the net. Well played everyone.
The second game was a much tighter affair.
Line up - Bush, Walker-Boardman, Norman, McDonnell, Turner, Stevens, White, Subs Jennings, Matthews, Deakin
Rangers started energetically and looked balanced in their play. Some strong defending from Ryan showed that Rangers were keen to continue their no nonsense style. A fluent attack presented Danny with a chance. He cut in well but found the side netting. Both sides were tackling well and passing crisply. Kieran had a brilliant chance to open the scoring, his effort was charged down, the ball broke to Cael whose shot was parried by the keeper, George pounded and seemed certain to score but the ball was gathered by the keeper. Kieran cut in from the right and whipped in a fabulous cross, Cael was inches from being on the end of it. By half time neither team had scored.
There were no changes for the second half as the game was tight. An early corner from Kieran fizzed across the box. Cael worked hard to stretch and intercept a poor goal kick, his effort went wide. Kieran had another opportunity that was saved; the ball broke to George who hit the post. Rangers were getting frustrated not to have scored. Then with virtually the last kick of the game, Cael had a superb effort that flew past the keeper into the roof of the net. Just reward for the hard working Rangers performance.
Match Reports –14/Mar
Rangers returned to action at Rowley Park on a truly blustery day in Stafford. Line up - Bush, Walker-Boardman, Stevens, Turner, Deakin, Norman, White Subs Matthews, Thomas, Jennings
Captain Owen lost the toss and Rangers were playing against the wind. Straight from kick off Rangers had a chance to score but couldn’t convert. Some excellent work from Kieran was causing problems for the opposition; his crosses were peppering the box. Joshua was presented with a great chance to open the scoring but he pulled the shot wide. Then an attack from Rangers saw 4 players had the chance to score but, neither; Owen, Danny, Joshua or Kieran, could make the final touch. Rangers were then required to defend as the opponents broke against the run of play, kicking with the wind; a strong shot was cleverly and confidently collected by Alex Bush, to protect the Rangers goal. Then came the breakthrough. Ryan took a free kick on the left-hand side of the box, it initially beat all the Rangers players but great recovery play from George saw him chase the ball down and square to teammate Kieran who coolly slotted the ball into the net.
Straight from the halftime restart, George found Owen in the centre; his shot was too strong for the goalkeeper. Rangers were comfortable now and from a corner Danny was presented with a chance to extend his goal tally, but from close in his shot went over the bar. Joshua was replaced by Euan. Kieran then had a great chance from the edge of the box which he finished well. Kieran and George were replaced by Hayden and Alex T. From a corner the ball bounced into the box, Ryan followed up and buried the ball into the net. Ranger finished the game with some excellent defending, Euan in particular was calm under pressure and Alex did everything that was asked of him.
In the second game Rangers changed the starting line up. Line up - Stenson, Jennings, Matthews, Stevens, Turner, Deakin, Thomas Subs White, Walker-Boardman, Norman
Rangers started well and a great move between Owen and Danny saw a chance for Euan, but his shot went narrowly wide of the goal. Owen then had a heading opportunity to score but the chance was deflected for a corner to Rangers. A second corner followed and Joshua had a chance and seemed certain to score but his effort was smashed over the bar. A shot from Danny was brilliantly headed off the line. Rangers were doing well but their passing seemed to be eluding them once more, they seemingly reverted all wanting to score rather than pass which isn’t want the team needed; the manger particularly wasn’t happy. Joshua didn’t disappoint with his 3rd chance of the morning, he calmly slotted the ball into the net. Just before half time Alex T had an effort which unluckily struck the bar and was cleared from danger.
After the break Kieran, George and Ryan were introduced. The ball broke down the right; Kieran cut in and crashed in a shot which the keeper couldn’t handle. Rangers were starting to control the game and from an Owen cross, Ryan bravely headed goal ward but his effort was high. George cut in and found Ryan on the left, again his side footed effort was high and wide. Then, the Kieran show continued; he picked up the ball in a wide position and his effort went high and straight to score his second of the game. George intercepted a goal kick and took an early shot but the chance was saved by the goal keeper. Owen, Euan and Danny were replaced by Haydn, Joshua and Alex T. Two more quick goals from Kieran (2) took his tally to four for the game; both goals were firm shots from outside the area. Then with the last chance of the game great work from George saw him wriggle past 3 defenders and unleash an effort that seemed goal bound, Haydn made sure and crashed the ball in from 1/2 yard.
Once again Rangers defence did everything that was asked of them (which wasn’t much) during the game. Euan particularly showed class composure throughout and once again Charlie ‘the cat’ didn’t touch the ball, all game! A special mention to Kieran who scored 6 goals this morning, a well deserved Man of the Match award; and Mangers Player of the morning was Euan. Well done.
Match Reports -28/Feb
Rangers returned to action at Rowley Park and were at full strength
following another mid season winter break.
Line up Stenson,Walker-Boardman,Stevens,Turner,McDonnell,Norman,White
subs Matthews,Deakin,Bush
Rangers attacked from the start and the 1-4-1 formation allowed the
midfield to control the game. Then a sweeping move saw Norman's shot
hit the bar bounce down cleared of the line and the follow up by White
this time struck the foot of the post and again was cleared. Another
chance fell to McDonnell again his shot hit the post. Early in the
second half Norman broke free down the right and saw his rasping shot
strike the crossbar. The injured Turner was replaced by Matthews and
with the game seeming to end goaless. Stenson saved only for the ball
to fall at the feet of the opposition striker and as he seemed to
regather the ball and fouled in the process the ball came loose and
ended in the net. Overall this was a brilliant performance against a
top opposition where lady luck was against Rangers.
In the second game of the morning they lined up as
Bush,Matthews,Deakin,Stevens,
McDonnell,Norman,White, subs Turner,
Walker-Boardman,Stenson
Licking their wounds from the previous game Rangers came firing out
off the blocks Goals from White,Deakin,Norman and Stevens saw them
into half time further goals followed from Turner(2) Walker-
Boardman,McDonnell and to complete the scoring Stevens added hid
second of the game.
Overall the manager was very pleased with the mornings work and is
looking forward to next seasons competitive football at under 9's level
Match Reports – 7/Feb
The first game started and Rangers were nearly caught cold; they had to defend an intelligent move straight from the kick off. Charlie cleverly tipped the ball around the post to avert an early goal. Then in an intelligent move Rangers were awarded a throw in which Owen took, he found Danny who spotted George at the back post, he scored Rangers first of the afternoon. Great play down the left by Kieran then lead to a chance for Danny whose shot went just wide. Owen received the ball wide on the right, he floated a delightful cross for George who headed goal bound; the keeper saved but pushed the ball to Danny, his shot hit the post. Rangers were rampant by now but still looked vulnerable in midfield. One chance saw Ryan, and then Euan make very strong defensive challenges to block out the attack. Just before half time Owen had a shot which hit the post and with the follow up the bar; the ball broke to Kieran who smashed in the rebound. From the restart Rangers we awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box. Ryan fancied his chances and was unlucky to see his effort only inches wide.
At half time, Alexander replaced the faultless Charlie in goals. Straight from the restart Kieran made a smart move beating 2 players and playing a very intelligent ball to the back post, but no one was able to get on the end of it. From the resultant goal kick Euan superbly intercepted the ball, laid it to Owen who unselfishly played an inch perfect pass for George to run onto and score. Kieran then had another chance created by Danny and George, but he was unlucky again. Then can a period of defending. Euan and Ryan were superb in defence limiting chances on goal to only 1 all game. Then came another break through. Danny broke on the left and played an early ball to his teammate George who finished well to complete his hat-trick. Alex T was introduced up front. He immediately made an impact. From a corner Alex had an opportunity but shot wide. Rangers now had chance after chance but couldn’t score. Ryan timed his challenges fantastically and towards the end of the game he found himself 2 on 1, but neatly came away with the ball once more. With virtually the last kick of the game a superb shot from the opponents was magnificently saved by Alexander.
In the second game Owen was rested and made way for Alex T. Danny had an early chance to break the deadlock but was unlucky to hit the post. Alex T intercepted a sloppy pass and looped the ball over the keeper and defenders, into the net. Rangers had started well but some of the play seemed scrappy. The ball broke for George who played in Kieran but his shot was high and wide. The ball was played out of the Rangers defence and a great three way link up put Danny in with a chance, he finished neatly. The Rangers defence were firm and some great play from Euan and Ryan protected Alexander in goals. Just before the break Euan found George on the left, he took the ball on and from an angle, shot across the keeper into the far corner.
Ryan, George and Alexander were replaced at the break by Charlie, Alex T and Haydn. Haydn had turned up to watch his team mates and received a last minute call due to the absence of Cael. The Ju-Jitsu star didn’t disappoint. He got straight into the game and played a part in Rangers next goal. Haydn was involved in some great play to force a corner. From the corner the ball broke to Owen whose looping shot went over the keepers head. Kieran had a shot saved and Haydn was unlucky not to score from the rebound. Then a strong run and shot from Owen once again resulted in a goal. The ball went high and almost ripped the net off! More solo play from Kieran almost resulted in another goal. Danny put through to Kieran whose shot went straight and hard into the goal. With the last kick of the game Danny looked likely to score but his shot was narrowly wide.
Once again the Rangers Keeper and defence had hardly anything to do, but are protecting the Rangers goal. Particular praise goes to Euan, Alexander, Ryan and Charlie.
Match Reports – 21/Jan
Wow after an enforced break due to Christmas and the heaviest snow fall for 30 years, the boys were raring to go this weekend. Training went well on Saturday and with a few boys unavailable Tim decided to use the Liverpool squad rotation system. Welcome too to our newest signing, Kieran Norman.
The first game started well, Rangers were confident and enjoyed early possession. Rangers forced a corner, the ball broke free and as the defender cleared, it deflected to Joshua who scored. A mazy run from Danny created a great opportunity but he was unlucky and shot wide. Rangers were totally in control and too strong for their opposition. Alex T had a chance which went narrowly wide. From a lovely cross supplied by Danny, Owen forced a great save from the keeper to keep the chance out. Then Rangers found themselves 3 on 1 in attack, Alex neatly found Captain Owen who finished well.
After half time, Kieran replaced Joshua, for his debut with Rangers. He immediately caught the eye with some great early work. Then from a corner on the left, Danny found Cael who bravely headed just wide. From the resultant goal kick, which was fluffed, the ball fell to Cael. He finished well in the corner of the net. Kieran darted down the right picking the ball up and taking an early shot, the keeper did well to turn it behind. From the resultant corner Owen had a headed chance sail over the bar. The Rangers defenders had little to do, but Ryan was playing a mature game showing good vision of the game. Charlie, once again, hadn’t touched the ball since November 22nd!
With 3 minutes to play Alex made way for George up front. Danny and Kieran both had strong shots saved. Then Danny picked up the ball and played an intelligent pass across the box to George, he controlled and confidently scored. Well done Rangers a great start to the day.
In the second game Alex and Cael were rested. Good early pressure from the boys saw chances for Kieran and George. Kieran was showing good skill and particularly from dead ball situations. The play was generally scrappy though. Danny and George exchanged passes but his effort was wide. Then George intercepted a pass and found Owen, his shot was too strong for the keeper. After the restart, an effort from Danny broke to the new boy; Kieran finished high into the net with his right foot excellently.
Immediately after the break Kieran took on a man on the right he cut inside and slotted the ball through to George, who ran on a scored. Rangers were flying and had found their confidence once again. They forced a corner on the right. As the corner came in, a defender deflected into his own net; an own goal; unlucky. Lively play saw another chance fall to the Captain, Owen once again found the net. With seconds to play Cael threw the ball into George, who ran from inside his own half and scored an excellent goal.
It is hard to fault or praise any of the Rangers defence or Charlie ‘the cat’, but frankly they had nothing to do in either half. They did however play well as a unit and it looks like the manager has found a good defensive formula.
Match Reports – 15/Nov
This week’s first game saw a change to the regular line up. Delighted to have an opportunity in nets Alexander Bush was rewarded with his debut for Rangers. Also making his debut was Cael McDonnell who has recently joined Rangers.
Rangers started explosively with an attack from the kick off. Danny and Owen exchanged passes and as the goal keeper rushed out to clear, George nipped in to slot the ball under him from the edge of the area. Danny was bought down on the left; from the resultant free kick Owen was unlucky that his shot was deflected wide. Corner to Rangers... Following a clever passage of play Rangers were rewarded with a penalty. A hand ball appeared to have saved a goal bound shot. George resumed penalty taking responsibilities. His shot was firm and high and on target, the keeper superbly saved the penalty. From the rebound George pulled the ball back to Danny who cleverly squeezed the ball in at the near post.
Rangers were flowing forward with chance after chance and were solid at the back with Joshua and Cael; Alex had a great effort well saved. Owen, Cael and Danny all had good chances to score. The sharp passing had returned to Rangers game; everyone played there part to this team effort. Just before half time Owen smashed a ball that broke to him on the edge of the box, it sailed it the top of the net.
At half time Haydn and Euan replaced Alex and Joshua. Euan immediately settled in and was confident at the back. Rangers had more and more chances. George was replaced by Alex for the last few minutes. Alex made an immediate impact; he calmly scored after breaking clear. Cael continued to show great confidence down the left and a great run and cross narrowly passed the far post. Owen then had two chances, one from a free kick and the other when the goal seemed wide open. With almost the last kick of the game Rangers we awarded another penalty for hand ball. Danny stepped up and slotted the ball in the net. Alexander had a fantastic debut and clean sheet but unfortunately he didn’t touch the ball even once!!
In the second match, Rangers produced some very good early pressure. Owen made a superb cross to test the goal keeper; firstly George then Danny had opportunities to convert but couldn’t. The boys were streaming forward and were rewarded a goal kick fell to Danny; he steered the ball past everyone into the net; great goal. Cael made a great run down the left; the ball broke for a Rangers corner. Owen and Danny played a short corner; Danny confidently took the ball into the box unchallenged, his shot rocketed into the roof of the net. Rangers could have been playing without Charlie in goal! Just before half time, Charlie found Danny from a goal kick; he found George in space; George controlled and crashed a shot that beat the keeper.
Soon after half time, Rangers had important defending to do. Both Euan ‘The Rock’ and dependable Joshua made strong and brave tackling. Owen and Cael were producing some excellent play down the left; but the finishing touches were lacking for all the players. George and Cael were replaced by Haydn and Alex. Ranger remained strong. They did however concede a corner late in the game. Unfortunately a lapse of concentration saw them concede a goal too.
Great day boys; well done.
Match Reports – 8/Nov
After a two week break the boys were certainly ready for today’s games. Arm in arm and with a Remembrance Poppy proudly displayed on their shirts, the boys lined up to respect a minutes silence; for those who had lost their lives for us all. Well done boys; very grown up behaviour...
Ranger made a good start and with their first attack Ryan was unlucky with an effort on goal. The opponents started well too and displayed strong attacking movement. Ranger were keen to attack, maybe at time too keen, which was leaving them exposed in defence.
Ryan broke down the left and slotted a great cross for George who seemed certain to score but smashed the ball over the bar. He was disappointed but quickly put it behind himself and chased back. Seemingly everyone wanted to score and Rangers forced three successive corners. Owen pulled the trigger and hit the post with a strong effort. More corners followed, Danny had a great opportunity from the edge of the area; his superb short whistled over the bar. Ryan then found George whose shot forced a great save from the goalkeeper, Ryan followed up, then George; how did the ball not end up in the net? Then some excellent defending from Euan and a great one-on-one tackle from Joshua kept the scores level. With the last kick of the half a cross from George which came off the keeper, hit the post and then into his arms.
The second half started with great work from Danny down the right. Rangers once again were put under pressure and Joshua excellently tidied up and cleared the ball. Danny was fouled; from the resulting free kick Rangers fashioned a 4 player move which resulted in a defender handling the ball. It was a penalty to Rangers. Ryan firmly scored. More pressure from Rangers, more chances but no goals. Then from a Danny corner, the defenders clearance was smashed into his own net for an own goal. Unlucky but Rangers had scored. Charlie ‘the cat’ had nothing to do all game, this was due to some great defending by Euan and Joshua. Charlie however remained alert, concentrated and was ready for anything!
In the second match, there were more goals. Ranger where asked by their Manager to show more passing discipline and remember that Teamwork is essential.
Against a young team, Rangers started confidently and Ryan had an early chance, but shot wide. Then after 3 minutes Owen tried a cheeky shot which beat the keeper at the front post, he scored. Ryan broke down the left; he laid the ball into George who passed to Danny who scored with a neat finish. Rangers continued to defend very well and confidently. From a goal kick Charlie smashed the ball down field so far it created a corner kick for Rangers. Danny swept in the corner, Owen hit the post and George was there to follow up and score. Soon after the restart, Ryan had an opportunity and confidently put the ball in the net.
Rangers made changes. George and Euan made way for Alex T and Haydn. Joshua continued to show mature defending and Rangers pressed forward. A shot bounced off the keeper and Alex T was well positioned and scored from close range.
At half time George and Euan replaced Ryan and Danny. Euan seemed comfortably and made a clearance to George, whose cross shot went inches (sorry centimetres) wide. A superb tackle from Joshua helped Rangers clear their lines. Alex T still looked lively too, then Haydn broke free down the right and finished superbly with his left foot in the corner; great goal well done.
It was a good day for Rangers. On Remembrance Sunday 2009, two final things Rangers must also remember; firstly don’t compete amongst yourselves it really doesn’t matter who scores the goals as long as the team wins, secondly ALWAYS Respect the match Officials, NEVER EVER question decisions, whether a player, coach or parent... [This will not be tolerated at Stafford Rangers FC]
Match Reports – 18/Oct
This was without question the boy’s best performance yet. As a team they played magnificently!
Once again it was a bright morning at Rowley Park. The boys were buzzing following their visit to Marston Road on Saturday to see the first team against Stalybridge Celtic.
Ranger made a bright start and forced an early corner against strong opposition. Soon came a vital early breakthrough. Owen made a superb run the length of the pitch and cleverly looked up for a team mate. He squared to George who was free in the box; who side footed the ball past the goalkeeper. Rangers were happy but needed to retain their shape. Euan and Joshua made a series of superb defensive challenges to stamp their authority on the game.
Then in an incident that saw George get a ‘bloody lip’ following a boot in the face, Rangers extended their lead. From the resulting free kick, Danny pickup up the ball then with a pinpoint pass found Ryan. Ryan showed great vision and pace to beat three players, and then squared the ball to George who once again slotted the ball past the goalkeeper. The Rangers Manager started to smile, training was clearly working! He was even happier 3 minutes later. The busy Danny found Ryan at the back post, with a superb cross. Ryan steered the ball with his head into the far corner of the net. It was a truly skilful finish from one so young. From a Euan clearance the ball broke to Ryan he passed to Owen who finished well from distance. Rangers were literally queuing up for chances but couldn’t convert anything more; there were too many to mention! With almost the last kick of the half, Danny took a corner, the goal keeper seem certain to collect but fumbled and the ball ended up in the net for an own goal.
Straight after half time Owen had a chance that he scored. Haydn was introduced after Euan picked up an injury. There was a passage of scrappy play where both team seemed to lose concentration; but Rangers continued to try hard. George was withdrawn for Alex Thomas who made some great defensive runs and supported the defence. Danny then broke down the left, cut in and finished well in the far corner. Alexander replaced Joshua Deakin who had had a solid game. Two defensive mix ups late on resulted in Rangers conceding twice.
A fabulous performance boys, this performance triggered words of praise from the opponent’s parents and manager.
The second game started, George and Owen worked a neat one-two, as he attempted to clear the defender put the ball in his own net for an own goal. Owen then had an opportunity from distance but the ball went inches over. Then a great individual goal from Joshua saw him beat 3 players and calmly finish in the corner. A succession of corners followed, but Rangers couldn’t take the opportunities. Even though they have scored twice they were not really playing as a team together in this second game. Just before the break the manager switched Alexander for Charlie. Charlie had had a solid game with little to do.
At half time George and Owen were replaced by Alex and Haydn. From the restart Alex Thomas broke clear and played in the busy Ryan, but Ryan couldn’t connect with a shot. Haydn was fouled on the left and from the resultant free kick Danny scored directly, great goal. Then again Danny was put in by Euan, he ran clear and coolly finished. Owen remained busy and late on scored twice against the tiring opponents.
Well done boys enjoy the half term break. You deserve it!
Match Report – 11/Oct/09
This week saw the arrival of the new Training Jackets for the boys, and how they needed them! On a wet and cold morning the boys assembled at Monckton Centre. After a long training session on Saturday the boys were ready to put their ideas into practice on the greasy surface at Monckton.
In a tight game, Rangers started well with some excellent early passing movement. Danny Stevens made a great run down the right but the chance failed to lead to anything. Both teams bunched the midfield and the play became a little scrappy. Ryan then led the Rangers attack down the left wing and forced the first corner of the game. Good pressure from the boys but no reward. Joshua Deakin and Euan Matthews were commanding at the back and particularly Euan made some superb defensive tackles to keep Rangers in the game. With things still tight, Rangers started to turn on the style and create some opportunities. Then in a bizarre incident, one of the opponents seemed to handle the ball for no apparent reason; Rangers were awarded a penalty. George was designated to take it. A strong spot kick was saved well and from the rebound he hit the post, the ball broke to Ryan who slotted it beneath the keeper to score his first goal of the weekend.
After half time Joshua made way for Alexander Bush. He quickly settled well into the game making some excellent strong challenges. Rangers forced a corner, Danny and Owen took it short, the ball broken to Ryan whose cross shot was narrowly wide. From a throw in, Danny put George through, his shot skipped off the wet surface and hit the post; Ryan raced in but couldn’t convert the chance. Charlie ‘The Cat’ made only one save during the match late on to keep the clean sheet.
Well done boys.
Wow the second game of the morning was eagerly awaited by both sides. In this non competitive environment, when school friends play one another, everyone has fun. This was certainly the case today.
Straight from the kick off Rangers forced a corner. Danny swung in a super corner kick which hit the near post and was them smothered by the goalkeeper. Soon after that, an absolutely fantastic team move resulted in Rangers scoring. Ryan picked up the ball on the left and beat 2 players well, he cleverly found George on the edge of the area with his back to goal; he looked up and saw Owen thundering in on goal. George intelligently slotted it sideways into his path and Owen rifled the ball with an unstoppable shot. Great teamwork!
The game was tight and the oppositions ‘danger-men’ were being well maintained by Rangers. The defensive play from both Joshua and Euan was magnificent. The defending appeared natural and solid. Then a chance started by the busy Danny allowed Ryan to cross from the left and George was inches wide with a header. From the resultant goal kick George returned the favour and crossed for Ryan whose chance went narrowly wide. Owen continued to lead by example and his defending was neat. Just before the break Rangers had a chance to score but once again Ryan headed wide. Then, with the last kick of the half, Euan chased back with the forwards to make a goal saving tackle.
Great pressure from Rangers after the restart was not rewarded with a goal. Euan and Joshua once again made important tackles. Then came, a vital breakthrough; Rangers broke down the left and were awarded a throw in. Owen took the throw in and found Danny, he played the ball across the box; it came to George who took the ball at waste high on the volley; the ball sailed into the net. Rangers felt more comfortable now and their confidence was showing through. A series of short corners lead to a goal mouth scramble when Ryan seemed certain to score, but the ball was cleared once again. With 2 minutes left Alexander Bush replaced the exhausted Joshua, to shore up the defensive. He certainly did that by making an important interception with his first touch.
Excellent game boys, you defended fantastically and scored 3 great team goals, this week.
Match Report / 4 Oct
This week’s first game was a tight affair due mainly to the fact that their opponents were well organised, and it showed that they have been together for a whole season . However this young Rangers team was eventually rewarded when goals came from Ryan and Owen. Even though it was disappointing to concede goals, the lads are constantly learning new skills and developing a good attitude of never giving up and enjoying their football.
The second match on Sunday was very different. . Tactical changes were made which saw Owen moved to right wing and Euan asked to play at right back. This was a much better performance and the boys worked hard and battled, which was great to see.
There were no less than 5 players who scored in this game, 2 for George White, 2 for Ryan Walker-Boardman, Danny Stevens and first goals of the season for Joshua Deakin and Alex Thomas. A great all round team effort. Well done Rangers.
Match Reports – 27/Sept
The second weekend saw the boys paired with tough opposition.
The boys started well but even so Danny Stevens made a great defensive tackle to avert an attack. Owen Turner made a superb pass through the middle to George White, but he couldn’t convert the chance. Ryan Boardman had a great opportunity after being put through but narrowly shot wide. A defensive lapse from Rangers saw their opponents with a 3 on 1 opportunity and seems certain to score, but incredibly Charlie ‘the cat’ Stenson smothered the ball. Euan made a darting run down the right wing, took the ball to the by-line and crossed; George White confidently smashed the ball into the net with a great finish. The game was very tight and competitive and a busy Danny made another great defensive tackle. Danny delivered a great corner to the back post, Ryan seemed certain to score with the goal gaping but couldn’t deliver the finishing touch this time.
Rangers started well in the second-half and George showed a fantastic touch to beat three players on the right wing. He slotted the ball to Ryan who unselfishly laid off to Euan Matthews, who superbly finished in the roof of the net. Some excellent defending from Rangers saw them soak up lots of pressure, then on the break Danny passed through to Ryan whose firm shot was narrowly deflected wide for a corner.
Well done a great game and great team play.
The second game kicked off, Rangers looked organised.
Early on Owen made a terrific run and shot, he was rewarded with his first goal of the season. Joshua Deakin then made a trademark defensive tackle shortly after the restart. Euan picked up the ball just inside the attacking half and tried a cheeky looping shot, the goal keeper mishandled but George hit the post with the chance. Rangers then made changes. Alexander Bush was introduced for Joshua; Hayden Jennings replaced Euan. The substitutes made an immediate impact and from a goal kick, George intercepted. He cleverly chested the ball and volleyed the ball home. Soon after Danny picked up a poor clearance and smashed the ball into the net. Owen was busy and had another shot parried and Ryan did fantastically well to follow up, he slotted the ball into the corner of the net. Rangers were streaming forward now with confidence. Alexander made a great defensive tackle but was unlucky to be judged to have fouled his opponent. Rangers defended the chance well.
After half time Alex Thomas was introduced for his first game. He quickly settled into the game. Owen then had another chance which he superbly converted. Then a great run by Danny down the left saw Alex Thomas open in the centre, he stabbed the ball goal wards but narrowly missed. Very unlucky. Owen was unstoppable; he once again picked the ball up in the left, cut in and superbly took a looping shot which nestled in the back of the net for his Hat-trick. Both teams were tired now but kept working hard.
Great game boys, this game taught us lots about the importance of defending as a team.
Match Reports – 20/Sept
The first weekend saw the boys paired with tough opposition in their first games. The boys went through their usual warm up session and were very excited!
The game kicked off with a very nervy start, where Stafford Rangers almost conceded a goal in the first 30 seconds! They soon settled. Danny Stevens made a great run through the middle to set up an opportunity which saw firstly Ryan Boardman then George White both hit the post. Then on 6 minutes Rangers scored their first goal. Euan Matthews scored from direct play.
After the break once again Euan picked up the ball on the right, shot and beat the keeper at the near post. It was another goal for him. After the restart Rangers were looking like they were enjoying it and Ryan was terribly unlucky to once again hit the post. Alexander Bush and Keiran Bond were introduced for Joshua Deakin and Euan. From a throw in on the right, the ball broke free and was slotted into the box. George finished neatly from close range, for his first goal of the season.
Great team play by this young side
The second game was a much tighter, both teams looked organised and Rangers soaked up the pressure for the early minutes. Charlie Stenson made a great save early on. Danny was bought down on the edge of the box as he was shaping to shoot and from the free kick Ryan powered the ball in the net. Just before half time Charlie made another great save to keep the excitement going.
In the first second half attack, a fantastically worked one- two involving Danny and George resulted in Danny scoring his first goal, high in the net. Rangers were flying. Danny then picked the ball up in his own half and cut in coolly slotting under the Goalkeeper for his second goal. Late on Joshua made an incredible goal saving tackle when Rangers looked certain to concede.
Well done boys an entertaining match.
